I'm Madolyn, the designer and creative behind Matta Perla Gowns.

Translated from Italian, an influential part of my family heritage, Matta Perla means Mad Pearl. Mads is what my loved ones call me, and Pearl is my middle name, a family name and, fittingly, my birthstone.

The name holds a tension I've always been drawn to-intensity and softness, drama and grace. I don't believe we have to choose between the two. Some of the most beautiful things live in that balance. A cathedral carved from stone yet full of light, a heroine who is both fierce and tender, a gown that feels soft as a love story and bold as the woman wearing it.

Growing up as a tall girl with five sisters, I spent years watching the women I love struggle to find formal wear that worked. I saw dresses that were ill-fitting, forgettable, or expensive for what they were. I wanted something different. Something that felt intentional. Something with a story.

I began designing custom gowns in 2019, drawing inspiration from travel, books, films, music, and of course, love stories. Old world architecture, timeless literature, the kind of romance that feels enduring rather than trendy — Gone with the Wind, Wuthering Heights, the quiet grandeur of a cathedral at dusk. Since then, Matta Perla has grown to include small batch sourced gowns, vintage pieces, and custom veils, all made with the same belief — that your story deserves to be dressed beautifully.
